Generally, as a driver, when trying to crank your car engine during cold weather for work and it refuses to budge, it’s always frustrating. It is best that you replace your car battery before you need to because there’s no ultimate answer on how a car battery will last but there are some symptoms suggesting that’s it’s time you replace your car battery.

Here are the ways you can replace your car battery

1. Battery replacement: Experts who are specialized in the replacement of car batteries estimate that as a driver,

you should ensure to replace your car battery every four to five years.

2. Battery tested: Recommended car battery tester is a multimeter because it’s a common way people test their car

battery and it’s very easy to use anytime any day. The following are ways you can test your car battery:

– First, you have to remove the surface charge from the battery.

– Secondly, perform a quick visual inspection.

– Thirdly, set up your multimeter

– Connect your multimeter

– Check the display of your multimeter

– Then turn on your car

3. Battery terminal: As a driver, when you are disconnecting the cables from the old battery, you have to disconnect

the negative and then disconnect the positive. Connect the battery in the reversed pattern.

4. Car battery electrical system: Your car’s electrical system has consisted of a battery, starter and alternator.

The battery itself provides juice to the starter, then the alternator gives that battery the vibe its needs to start up your car.

Note: If either of the starter or alternator is not working properly, then your car wouldn’t run correctly.

While less common than the factors above, a malfunctioning charging system will also reduce battery life. Persistent under- or over-charging accelerates battery aging. Some newer cars with absorbent glass mat (AGM) batteries require careful control of charging rates for maximum battery life, and the automaker may even alter the charging strategy as the battery ages. Finally, allowing any car battery to go completely dead will take a big chunk out of its lifespan, even if it can be recharged and put back in service.
